Well this has been a bit of a journey and I figured i would write this into a blog post as its a long story. Something that should have been wrapped up by September has pushed us into December, but the end is in sight...
Back in June we made the call, along with a house move, to get our own machines along with a full new studio setup in a house we had made an offer on. The funding for the new property was done as an agreement with the bank. Everything was going to plan, we sold our house and moved into a hotel while the bank finished up the paperwork as there was a gap in possession of the new place after we had moved out.
This is where all the problems began. For various reasons, things got hitched. Our first round of funding is still being held to this day even though it has been cleared with the CRA and FINTRAC. We had to apply for a new round of finance here with a provincial bank. The process was slow. During the process they lied to us about timelines and every promise they made was broken. As we later found out, they were using us as a learning experience to develop a new internal procedure for handling funds coming from outside sources. During this time we had to call in favours to borrow money to keep the contract alive on the new house or risk losing our deposit and savings we had used as a down payment.
Fast forward now to late Sept where this is all coming to a boiling point, the bank is failing to provide funds, even going as far as to refuse to handle more funds we had secured from the US. We had to cut them off and restart with another bank who have thankfully been amazing. The process we have had to follow is one i can't discuss as it relates to my husbands start up but suffice to say we are back on track although 3 months past schedule.
So here we are now, early December. The budget is locked in for the equipment, studio furniture and flooring. Its all sitting in a warehouse here in the city and waiting to be delivered once we get the deposit into our account. At the time of writing this on the 8th of Dec I do not have a firm date when I can get things moving but we know its very very close. It is a relief to finally be at this point, everyone who has been ordering from us over the last half a year now has been so patient and being homeless now for over 6 months is affecting our mental and physical health. We are looking forward to getting setup and back to work!
So here are the next steps;
- Secure our funding, get possession of the new house and move in
- Pay for the new equipment and get it installed in the space
- Restart the production process! Everything will be done on stream, from day 1. The channel at www.twitch.tv/timberwolftrading will be where we can show you the new space and the equipment!
As a thank you to everyone who has orders with us and been so patient I am adding a percentage of extra stickers to every sticker order that's been placed. If your order is over 4 weeks old at the point where we restart production, you will be getting extra stickers, increasing in qty for the longer you have been in the queue. I also hope to be adding some awesome new promo goodies in the orders once i get the new engraver set back up!
Sorry this post is a bit of a long one, we have been dealing with a LOT over the last 6 months, a process that was supposed to be easy has turned into one of the most stressful times in our lives. You all have been so amazing in your patience with us and I will work my tail off to make sure you are repaid. I look forward to being back in the thick of it and providing so much amazing and talented artwork and stickers to you all.
